“For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.”
2 Corinthians 5:4
Here’s the deal;
To me, it’s evident that we are still living in heaven, but there’s a shadow of death pretending we’re all trapped and hopeless. We are all living in darkness here as it is on earth, but those who currently walk in the light are living on earth, “as it is in heaven,” as Jesus’ lesson on prayer teaches us to pray that the Father’s will to be done.
Do you believe God can see us?
I honestly don’t think He can — not in the sense that we see anything; or not in the typical sense of what it is to be “seen” in heaven. When Adam and Eve ate the apple, they didn’t move location or gain distance from God but I believe they disappeared from his vision entirely. God didn’t ask, in naivety — in Genesis 3 — where Adam was. He didn’t give Adam a chance to speak up and defend himself (which is what I was always led to believe) but, I actually believe God just really couldn’t see them anymore.
I’m unsure as to what part of the original human beings would have changed and to how it would have changed, and even the abundance of words I have just don’t seem to be able to put a finger on it. When Adam and Eve ate the apple, they switched dimensions — in a way — the NIV Bible uses the word “realm” in Romans 8:8. The newly created beings, living in perfection and holiness up until this point, instantly became sinful as desire gave birth to the act of sin.
The Bible says that Adam claims to have hidden on his own accord when God finds him missing. It says that Adam spoke to God saying; “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” On which, I believe, was a lie then, because in reality, he moved spacially, but not entirely ‘locationally.’ And that was sin number two; right off the bat.
God; being a perfect God, would have been running a perfect world — David writes in Psalms 46 that, the city that God lives in cannot be destroyed. Sin brings destruction. God is so far separated from anything like sin or imperfection that the instant Eve, then Adam, swallowed the bite of the apple; justice had to be served. It was not an option. They made their choices and they were ejected from heaven. They were removed from the realm of light, where they were living with God, into the “realm of the flesh” — which is where we have been living ever since.
The story is in Genesis. I encourage you to read it.
The Bible says Adam heard God coming — because, now Adam couldn’t see God; it had become dark and he could only hear Him. He called out immediately when God called because the little man was scared to death. He was entirely terrified of the sound God.
When we cannot depend on the things we usually try to depend upon, like vision, reason or touch, things can become quite scary. It’s a lack of information that makes things appear differently. When Satan is in control, he wants it dark. He hides what needs to be hidden and manipulates our thoughts to see the way he wants us to see. And we fall for it over and over again.
Adam was scared for his life because his mind now saw dark, awful, mysterious stuff. He opened his eyes and instead of peace, joy, hope or love, he saw freaky, scary, stranger things and he quickly realized that he really wanted to be with his Father, who he was used to spending each day with — in safety and comfort.
I believe, at the moment Adam sinned, he disappeared to God, lied about why, and blamed his bride; who then blamed the snake. I believe also, that it all started in the realm of “earth as it is in heaven.” Right out in the light of day.
John the Baptist walked in the light. He saw it in his mother’s womb when the unborn spirit of his cousin — Jesus — came in with His mom to greet them. He ran his ministry and told his listeners, in Matthew 3 to; “Repent,” and he tacked on this little tidbit that Jesus also started His ministry upon; “for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Jesus began his service as well, by saying the same phrase.
I think we can replace the words “at hand,” with; ‘right here.’ Or even “up to you.”
‘The kingdom of heaven is ‘up to you.’ You make it heaven; here, with the power Christ gives. And I believe our words show us where our allegiance lies.
The fruit of the root is the proof.
Luke 6 has a passage where Jesus is speaking; verse 45;
“A good man — out of the good treasure of his heart — brings forth good; and an evil man — out of the evil treasure of his heart — brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”
I understand if you’re becoming overwhelmed at this moment. These words may seem too sporadic, maybe disconnected, even. Lots of people have gotten upset at me for speaking in circles or, flipping their words. The amount of information we need to gather, though, is astounding. We’re missing so much of it!
It’s not only that I’m speaking in circles — that is mind-numbing — but I’m also not trying to confuse you. I may just be talking to a confused person. We are so completely lost that the instruments that we are navigating with are the entirely wrong ones. In our world, we have begun to rely, solely, on our physical senses — which are faulty instruments.
In the posts where I wrote about the Blue LED, I told of the story of Shuji Nakamura — the insubordinate scientist who defied his boss and company to plow his way to a successful invention, I mentioned how I believe our ‘autopilot’ systems work. Each one of us unknowingly sets our target destination based on what it is we believe, but often, it’s incomparably wrong. Our physical world and the information we gather has been handed over to the enemy and our enemy’s native language is ‘lies.’
Unfortunately, it seems to take most of us a dangerous amount of time and a ton of really, really bad choices to see why our decisions aren’t helping us. At some point in our lives, after a good portion of the job has been completed incorrectly, we stand up to check our plumb and realize, we are horribly lost. We can unwind our path to where we’ve gotten by hearing and learning the ‘correct’ directions to get home; but it’s not actually that simple to get to be where we need to be. We are very lost!
Do you remember before the days of smartphones; when printing MapQuest directions was the easiest way to navigate? MapQuest was thorough, too. If we were ever a long way from home, one would have to sift through line upon line of useless entry ramp turn queues and confusing cross street instructions to find the most important, actual directive steps. The steps we knew how to follow. When you’re too far from home, there are just an overwhelming amount of steps to get back!
This brings us to now; a world of darkness, diecit and fear.
Wait though, didn’t I just say we’re also in heaven?
Yea, we are, I think. Just six feet under. Dead, is how the Bible describes it, or — in a different perspective — planted.
1 Corinthians 15:42 says; “Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever.” Earlier in verse 37 Paul describes the way a seed grows into its respective plant and that “what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of whatever you are planting.”
We’re in the mud. And we’ve been in the mud so long we are acting as if we’re mud people but, we’re not, we’re children of God. The living God.
Maybe Adam disappeared to God — and he couldn’t see God for himself — but it didn’t end him. God fully understood the situation before He even said “Go,” at the beginning of time and His plan doesn’t require much of us. I believe Jesus has impregnated mankind with all the nutrients and vitamins we need to be the seed for a new life.
It just may feel like it sucks right now.
It’s dark, it’s too cold or, at times, way too hot. We can’t ever see what we want to see so we’re just feeling entirely helpless. But the hope lies within if you’ve allowed Jesus to make a difference in your heart. We can choose to lie in the mud and rot for eternity or we can embrace the challenge that Jesus is calling every one of us to — life in heaven.
I can’t even say it takes work.
It just takes faith.
We must reset our misguided autopilot destination to the correct signals. It is not our fleshly desires that are going to produce any kind of goodness in our lives. It is the Spirit of God, through Christ Jesus that gives us the correct directions we need to get back to the light, again.
Hebrews 13:14 says “this world is not our permanent home;” and that “we are looking forward to a home yet to come.”
But, are you looking forward; or is your mind stuck in the mud?
Remember, we’re not mud people, we’re just planted.
And growing.
Lots and lots of love to you folks, there’s no reason to stop now.
Have an incredible week.
God bless.
